NCGOP 2013 RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE "COMMON CORE" CURRICULUM

Whereas, Common Core is a top down, one-size-fits-all government takeover of our education system; Common Core is a top down, one-size-fits-all government takeover of our education system;

Whereas, Instead of teaching critical thinking and problem solving, Common Core stresses the lowest common denominator, punishes achievement, and forces all students to conform to government standards;

Whereas, Our future depends on the next generation being able to solve the serious problems we face, and sub-standard government run education will only make things worse;

Whereas, Common Core is an "untested" curriculum with an unknown price tag and interferes with parental control and parental choice in the upbringing of their children;

Whereas, Common Core, if fully enacted, will end the historical and legal rights of our communities to determine what our children are taught; and now therefore be it

Resolved, that the North Carolina Republican Party applauds the steps taken by our Legislators to study and research the Common Core Curriculum and we further urge our Legislators to introduce legislation to remove this system from our schools in North Carolina.
